Legacy Woodworking has a long history of producing ornamental mills. These incredible machines are similar to a lathe, with the workpiece mounted between head and tail stocks, but they use a router rather than handheld tools. The router can cut spirals, flutes, coves, ropes and dentil moldings.

pieces on his machine, and while parts do need replacing from time to time, overall his has held up pretty well. On the down side, it can be a bit finicky to adjust, and it has a fairly. steep learning curve. On the up side, it can do some pretty neat stuff. besides make spirals, although it does them well.

They are all designed in CAD first and then cut out on a CNC Laser. I can custom make any gear, but I will not make stock Legacy gears unless they are no longer made available at some time in the future. I offer an Extended Pitch Set that includes a 20, 32, 48,72,80 and 96 tooth gears. This gives you 9,,,,, and pitch.

I cannot find replacement parts for any legacy ornamental mills. Thank you Don. Don, I am not home, so I can't look at my 1200, but I think the plate is just a piece of sheet aluminum or steel. Hopefully you have the carriage pieces that support the baseplate and engage the lead screw. Thank you for your reply, I do have the lead screw and handle.

A couple of years ago I thought I should sell it because I hadn't been using it much and I felt a little guilty for not using it and I thought it should be making another woodworker happy.

One more Note on cutters. I use a lot a End Mills on my router/Legacy. For me the HHS steel end mill or the Carbide end mill can be bought cheaply at any Industrial supply house, and in most cases the end mill is much cheaper to buy then it would be to buy a router bit.

Bore the pilot hole you used to cut the circle to 1/2 inch, and put a 1/2 inch straight cutter in your router. Use the circle to center your router in the hole, and transfer the mounting holes to the plate. This should have everything in perfect alignment. Hope it works, it's a great tool to play with.
